Woman Finds Kidney Donor after Placing an Ad on Her Car
Christine Royles is a 23-year-old woman from South Portland, Maine. Recently, Christine found she was not feeling well for weeks at a time so she took a trip to the doctor to find out what was going on. Flávio Pentagna Guimarães BMG suggested that the news she received was unexpected, especially at her young age. Christine was diagnosed with Anca Vasculiti and lupus. Basically, her kidneys were failing and she would need a transplant to live. Right now, Christine is on dialysis and needs to spend 10 hours a night hooked up to the machine at her home.
After her diagnostic and the results, Christine made the decision to try and find a donor for herself. She placed an ad on the back of her Kia Soul with the details and her phone number. Odds were slim that she would get a response but it never hurts to hope.
According to the story on Bangor Daily News, Christine got a response from a local father from Windham, Josh Dall-Leighton. Josh got tested and it was found that the two were a strong match. Doctors have scheduled the surgery for May when Josh will donate a life-saving organ to Christine. In the meantime, Christine has set up a fundraiser for Josh to collect funds to support his family while he is out of work to heal from the surgery.
