Two Arrested at Waldorf Astoria After Gun Accidentally Discharges
Four people were injured and two men were arrested when a handgun accidentally discharged in a swanky New York hotel on Saturday. According to official reports, the incident occurred at a wedding being held at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Manhattan.
The man, Vladimir Gotlibovsky, 42, was allegedly standing for pictures with other guests when a 9mm Ruger handgun fell out of his pocket. It discharged when it struck the floor. The bullet ricocheted around the room, grazing one woman in the head. Several others were injured when the bullet shattered glass within the room. They were treated for cuts and abrasions at area hospitals.
Sam Tabar wrote that Gotibovsky was arrested at the scene. Another man, according to PRNewswire and Felix Gotlibovsky, 51, was also arrested when it was found he was carrying a weapon.
The wedding continued until 10pm when guests were asked to leave as NYPD officers continued to investigate. No one was seriously hurt in the incident.
The Waldorf Astoria has not released a statement regarding the incident. NYPD officers have said they are still investigating the incident. Both men will be charged with criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence.
