Terry Jones is Appointed as the President of Institutional Products by James Dondero
Terry Jones is now a full time employee of Highland Capital Management. He will be in charge of Institutional Products and will report directly to James Dondero. The co-founder of Highland Capital hired Terry because of his vast professional experience. Mr. Jones will be based in Dallas, Texas. Jones has worked in the financial services industry for over 25 years.
He will be mandated to enhance solution-based business development and compliment the institution’s sales platform. In addition, Jones will aid in the alignment of the portfolio risk management across the corporation’s platform and establishment of an effective risk management infrastructure. The objective of the risk management platform is to help identify, assess and mitigate pending risks.
On his acceptance speech, Mr. Jones asserted that he was happy to work with the company’s team to augment client solutions that integrates the investing capabilities with the needs of clients. Jones added that the risk management capabilities of the firm would address the issue of market volatility and seek to avail clients with transparency to comprehend risks and prospects. On his part, Dondero expounded that Terry would be able to augment Highland’s risk adjusted performance and develop innovative client solutions.
Previously, Terry served as Highland Fund’s lead Director. He also served at the boards of Genworth Life Insurance Company and SEI AIC III. Mr. Terry is an alumnus of Columbia College where he graduated with a degree in economics. He earned his MBA from Columbia Business School. At Highland Capital Management, James oversees investment strategies for the retail and institutional products. With over three decades experience in credit markets, Dondero is considered as one of the founders of Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO). Over the years, James has received much recognition and awards. These include Lipper Award for Floating Rate Opportunities, 5-star designation for Global Allocation by Morning star and ranking number one under the long/short healthcare equity fund.
Previously, Dondero worked at Protective Life and American Express. For his undergraduate studies, James pursued a degree in accounting and finance from the University of Virginia. As a professional, Dondero is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Dondero sits on the board of directors of American Banknote and MGM Studios. His vast experience has seen him appointed as the chairman of CCS Medical Corporation, NexBank and Cornerstone Healthcare.
